No way to keep it updated as it pulls at one time and that is it.

Are you sure about that? The plugin I used had a setting where you could set it to pull daily, every three days, or weekly. I was thinking it's the same one you're using.

That particular wp plugin only pulls one time per day.
It does not update continuously.
I use it on Blog Mainia - The Blogs to Read

Now this is not a blog, but a script, pulling constantly from twitter.

Now here is a better one for wordpress!
Complete theme (with 4-5 color options) that pulls continuously on the keyword you use (can only use one keyword).
