Default Can I go to jail?

If, on my blog, I talk about my boss and I ripping of the company? And then someone reading realises who I am talking about and dobs my boss and myself in for stealing corporate secrets.

Can we go to jail for info released over the blog? Does it count in court?

At the very least you'd face a possible civil lawsuit (or worse)..

Old thread but we see so many instances these days of employers using the Net to keep track of employees.. some people have been fired because of pictures posted to MySpace and the like.. you certainly have to be careful.

Just read the other day of an instance where an employee said she liked her job but was "bored" (on her MySpace).. employer sawy it and decided she and her job didn't mesh and fired her.

I think there should be a certain expectation of privacy, even in a public venue, in these matters.. as an employer, I'd certainly expect my employees to "vent". So long as they weren't denigrating the company, I'd be inclined not to fire or discipline the employee. Rather, I'd, at most, invite them in to see what could be done to alleviate any problems.

Funny the stuff people have up on personal sites. Just got a request on another forum I run to re-open an old thread. The poster wrote a lot about themselves. They own their own business and when you Google their name, that post comes up. The party believes they may have lost business because of it. So, it can happen to employers as well as employees.

Regards,
Keith

No doubt.. inadvertent lack of privacy is one of the biggest hazards of posting anywhere on the internet.. the internet can be a great asset and tool, but also very dangerous in many ways.
