Hi,

I am a newbie. As I see some blogspot blogs were ranks very high, rank 9 !.
But the contents of these is very simple, generally very curory. How could they get that rank in Alexa.

Or is there any method for this matter ???

Please kindly advise !

Never place any faith in page rank or Alexa rankings as either can be manipulated thru redirects or sending fake traffic to the server.

With all due respect to Dave, the Alexa numbers you're discussing are right on.

The reason they are so high is because Alexa is not ranking the individual blog; rather, Alexa is ranking the entire blogspot.com domain, not the individual blogs within it!

Now, Dave is right for re-directs that are sent to sites that rank, perhaps, in the 500,000 to 1,000,000 range. It's easy to spike traffic to move up in rank in those sites.

However, when you start getting closer to the very top-ranked sites, it is virtually impossible to send enough re-directs to compete with the top 50,000 or 100,000 sites, and certainly not enough to get in the top couple of thousand sites for any length of time.

I give Alexa ranks a fair amount of credence, and much more credence the higher the rank. I also double check those ranks by viewing the stats at www.Compete.com.

Of course you're right Keith and i completely missed he was talking about "blogspot"!

That said, I don't know if it's still the same but you used to be able to download apps that sent fake traffic to your blog via proxies to fake your rank. Hopefully that's not possible any longer!

I think alexa cleaned up it's ranking quite a bit and now go by the real traffic to the site.

I know that even buying traffic did not help my alexa ranking at all except for a very short period of time, then it went back to where it was.

I guess if you continue purchasing traffic your alexa rankings may change for a longer period of time.

Buying traffic is worthless. Alexa ranking is worthless it serves no purpose what so ever in any meaningful web site or transaction.

Care to elaborate a bit on that? What is your reasoning behind your comment regarding Alexa?

I personally feel Alexa should be regarded with a little suspicion because of past experience but am wondering what your experience has been as well.
