Does Google Really Care about Content?

Here's a blog post from today that says, emphatically, NO!

Follow the link at the blog post for the conclusions - basically that all Google cares about is backlinks and traffic.

Yes, there's more to it than that - but if you believe the author, there's less to some issues (duplicate content, updating content, etc.) - much less - than previously thought.

I've never thought dupe content was an issue.. if it was all the sites that republish AP News, etc would be penalized and they obviously aren't.

You might even consider Drudge a link farm and they haven't been affected either.. maybe traffic is the real key?

nope mate i dont think so , you see they have these bots who only crawl you if you have some traffic and they track you with keywords noothing else.

I think duplicate content is just fine example is you want your visitors to read about a news well you have to publish the content on your site and put the source. But when you have copy the content the higher profit goes to the original content.

Sometimes a reasonable amount of duplicate content is a necessity.. but it should be tempered with a good lead-in, if possible, and an original summary at the end.
