Disposable Email Sites Used To Send Spam

Has anyone else noticed that some disposable email sites, sites originally intended to protect us from spam, are being used by spammers as their email address when spamming blogs? I've had one particularly peristent spammer using Spamgourmet as his "return address" and it ticks me off!

Anyone else experiencing this?

We've had some trouble with Yahoo accepting legitimate email!

People who use Yahoo mail should note that the default setting on Yahoo is to throw away the stuff in their spam filter as soon as they log out. That's been a difficulty for people that sign up for forums like this one.

As far as spammers - they'll use any name at any service. Wouldn't surprise me if it was part of a dictionary attack.

Scammers have been using yahoo, hotmail and gmail from the very beginning.

So simple to open up new email accounts at those free services.

And they do nothing about that!

Especially gmail, google does not care how many of their accounts are used just for spam.

I actually prefer using Gmail for my main email because their filter against receiving spam is generally superior to others I've tried..

True, they have a spam folder.

But that still does not stop people from using their gmail accounts for spamming others not on gmail.

Report to google and all they do is nothing.

At the beginning of gmail, they did take spam from gmail accounts seriously and closed those emails.

Now it seems there are so many spammers using their service, they quit policing those accounts.

Unfortunately, I think spammers can create more accounts faster than Gmail can delete them.

We typically get spammers using emails from all over but many email addresses are an immediate tipoff.. not to mention spammers generally aren't very creative in their usernames.

Wait, on another thread, you posted a link to a site where one can buy a script to start their own free email hosting service.

Believe I said the drawback is people would then join and use the service for spam.

And free email services come and go.

Most of those scripts have a back end that lets you go in and see who's spamming (uh huh, they can read your email) and allow you to delete accounts that violate your TOS.

I just think it would be neat to have an email with my town name.
