Which browser do you use??

I see most of my friends using IE. I dont kno why it is so..!

What do you think is the reason for the fame of IE?

When MicroSoft fell behind on the internet front and Netscape took the world by storm with a huge Initial Public Offering, Microsoft went out and bought the technology that would become Internet Explorer. As usual, MS tried to make the browser proprietary to tie people to the desktop OS and MS Office.

Now the browser of choice among tech minded folks is FireFox. They've taken between 6 and 12 % of market share from IE this year.

Firefox has the huge advantage of Tabbed Browsing; having one window open with dozens of tabs for the web pages that are open within that window.

Firefox has many advantages. I crash it a lot however. There are also other dilemmas. I use IE a lot because most people use IE and sometimes its just easier to explore in. I have just started using firefox and Im not yet completely convinced.

I have seen web designers weight too much of their design on firefox. For Example:

I was at a meeting, talking about text resizing. He said that a 10px font cssed is great and in firefox it resizes and looks really good. I immediatly raised my hand and explained that px fonts do'nt actually resize and only in firefox does a resize of a pixel font occur. The use of pixel fonts for use with the blind is not reccomended(pixel fonts do not resize in IE). Needless to say he wasn't very happy with this comment.

Getting to the subject the fame of IE is pretty simple in my point of view. Most people who use the internet arnt very savvy. To most people which browser used is not very importent to there daily lives. My father who does a google search every couple weeks wont benifit from swtiching to a different browser. IE is a browser right out of the box. It is widely used because it's ready for use.

If I had a choice I would use Safari. If they made it for windows.

I use Firefox.

I think the reason why IE is popular is because it's the default browser in Windows, and we all know that the majority of PC users use Windows as their operating system as well. Not everybody may want or bother to switch, so they stick with IE.
