Default Re: Blogs for Kids

I agree with dgridley.... I'm not too keen about young kids taking up the blogging habit.

blogging has the potential of bringing out the attitude of "complaining" and "ranting" about things they dont like ... from an early age. Not a good idea. Also, kids are meant to interact with their peers face-to-face... a 10 year old would be better off joining some sports club or some hobby group than spending time with friends "online". Bad for the eyes as well.....

think about it .... whats better and more healthy for a kid ? spending time in the playground, enjoying fresh air and sunlight or being exposed to a lot of rubbish that goes around on the internet. If you censor their activities by enabling safe search on search engines and things like that, they'll find ways around that. How? other kid bloggers would probably tell them: "hey look I got a secret for you ... just go here, click on this and then you can go to that xxx site". the online world is a murky place. It also happens to be virtual (believe it or not). It is best to not expose kids to the internet until a certain age ..... better if they play games on the net and such things.. the blogging habit can be outright dangerous for a young mind ...
