Default Google taking over the web? -!?!?!?!-

Here's a fascinating account of world wide web domination potential that makes Microsoft monopoly look like the board game vs. real banks and railroads.
The probable answer lies in one of Google's underground parking garages in Mountain View. There, in a secret area off-limits even to regular GoogleFolk, is a shipping container. But it isn't just any shipping container. This shipping container is a prototype data center. Google hired a pair of very bright industrial designers to figure out how to cram the greatest number of CPUs, the most storage, memory and power support into a 20- or 40-foot box. We're talking about 5000 Opteron processors and 3.5 petabytes of disk storage that can be dropped-off overnight by a tractor-trailer rig. The idea is to plant one of these puppies anywhere Google owns access to fiber, basically turning the entire Internet into a giant processing and storage grid.
This is a fascinating prognostication in an on-going PBS column that reads like Tom Clancy meets Bill Moyers with a dash of Douglas Adams.

Holy Jesus! Is this true or gossip? That is so much computing power I can't even BEGIN to visualize it! It really does make Microsoft look like a docile lamb...

I think Microsoft is hopeful they can find a ***** in Google's armor with Bing.. Bing

I tried using it earlier (briefly) and didn't see any immediate reason to switch from Google.

Microsoft needs to overcome the bad impression most people have of the brand.

And no one else comments on Bing?

I notice alot of ads lately for the service but honestly have never thought about using it agin compared to Google.

Think it's worth another look or does Google really rule the web?
